
Marlize is an admitted Attorney and Notary in South Africa and has practiced as such in a private self-owned practice. She also practiced for several years as an Advocate in Cape Town, South Africa, handling mainly litigation matters. She spent some time as General Legal Counsel at International Corporate Companies, where she led teams globally, supporting the various businesses. She has recently qualified as a Fellow of the Association of Arbitrators (Southern Africa).
She has specialised over the past eighteen years in all legal aspects relating to Engineering Consulting Services and Construction law; inter alia procurement; tender requirements and reviews; negotiation of local and international contracts appointing consultants and contractors, commercial and contract management; managing claims and disputes, variation claims; representing Clients in adjudications and arbitrations; terminations; suspensions and final close outs. She has first-hand project experience in dealing with FIDIC and NEC contracts; World Bank; other funding agency contracts and various bespoke EPCM and EPC Contracts. She is skilled in drafting all types of contracts and communications to Client and other Stakeholders.
Her combined experience in private practice and as General Counsel within corporate settings, along with her expertise in construction law, positions Marlize as a versatile legal professional with forty years of industry standing. She offers substantial proficiency in General Commercial Legal services, Risk Management, Compliance, Company Law, and Construction Law.
